Hagwilget Canyon Suspension Bridge
Towering an astonishing 80 metres (262 ft) above the Bulkley River, the Hagwilget Canyon Bridge offers spectacular views of the canyon, river, and surrounding mountains. This single lane vehicle bridge serves as the gateway to the Village of Hazelton, ‘Ksan Historical Village and Museum, and an abundance of hiking/biking trails, and outdoor adventures. Those brave enough, can walk across the designated pedestrian lanes for a unique perspective of one of the Hazeltons' most iconic landmarks.

HISTORY For generations, Gitxsan and Wet'suwet'en peoples crossed the canyon using suspension bridges made from wood and woven cedar bark, creating an important connection between inland and coastal trade routes. The current steel suspension bridge, completed in 1932, is the fourth bridge to span the canyon. To learn more about its fascinating history, visit the museum in the Hazeltons’ Visitor Centre. |
